What's On in Schools for 2016 What's On in Schools for 2016

The centennial year 2016 offers an incredible opportunity for learning and the sharing of insights into the lives of children and families who 100 years ago paved the way to the freedoms our youth enjoy today.

Tugann an bhliain 2016, bliain an chomóraidh céad bliain, deis iontach chun foghlaim faoi shaol na leanaí agus na dteaghlach a mhúnlaigh cosán chun na saoirse dóibh féin 100 bliain ó shin – saoirse a mbaineann ár ndaoine óga sult as inniu. Gheobhaidh siad deis freisin na léargais éagsúla faoin saol ag an am a roinnt lena chéile.

Ireland’s cultural and educational institutions have partnered together to rise to the challenge, implementing a range of exciting programmes for schools nationwide, with participation at the core of these initiatives. See below for a detailed list of what’s happening.

Full details and additional information on how to get involved provided on Scoilnet and similar pages on the PDST and PDST Technology in Education websites.

Tá institiúidí cultúrtha agus oideachais na hÉireann ag comhoibriú le chéile chun tabhairt faoin dúshlán, ag reáchtáil raon cláir bhríomhara do scoileanna ar fud na tíre, agus beidh an rannpháirtíocht i gcroílár na dtionscnamh sin. Féach thíos chun liosta mionsonraithe a fháil den méid atá ag tarlú.

Tá na sonraí iomlána agus faisnéis bhreise faoi conas a bheith rannpháirteach curtha ar fáil ar shuíomhanna gréasáin Scoilnet agus ar leathanaigh chosúla ar shuíomh SFGM agus SFGM Teicneolaíocht san Oideachas.

National Flag for Each School

National Flag for Each School

The delivery of the National Flag to all primary and special schools is nearly complete. Along with the flag, each school has received a copy of the 1916 Proclamation in both Irish and English, as well as a booklet detailing the protocols for respecting the flag. It is intended that schools will retain their flag and display it prominently on Proclamation Day, March 15, 2016.

Tá an Bhratach Náisiúnta curtha ar fáil do bheagnach gach bunscoil agus scoil speisialta anois. In éineacht leis an mbratach, fuair gach scoil cóip d’Fhorógra 1916 i nGaeilge agus i mBéarla, chomh maith le leabhrán ina bhfuil sonraí maidir leis na prótacail chun ómós a léiriú don bhratach. Tá sé i gceist go gcoinneoidh scoileanna a mbratach agus go gcuirfidh siad ar taispeáint in áit fheiceálach í ar Lá an Fhorógra, an 15 Márta 2016.

The Department of Education and Skills, in partnership with the Professional Development Support Service for Teachers (PDST) Technology in Education, is developing a teaching resource on the National Flag.

This resource is hosted online on Scoilnet, the national portal for Irish education.

The resource will be aimed at primary and post-primary levels. It provides information on the flag, including its historical evolution and contemporary significance.

Tá an Roinn Oideachais agus Eolaíochta, i gcomhpháirtíocht leis an tSeirbhís um Fhorbairt Ghairmiúil do Mhúinteoirí (SFGM), Teicneolaíocht san Oideachas, ag forbairt acmhainn teagaisc maidir leis an mBratach Náisiúnta.

Tá an acmhainn sin á hóstáil ar líne ar Scoilnet, an tairseach náisiúnta le haghaidh oideachas na hÉireann.

Beidh an acmhainn dírithe ar an mbunleibhéal agus ar an iar-bhunleibhéal. Tugann sí eolas ar an mbratach, lena n-áirítear a héabhlóid stairiúil agus an chiall atá léi sa lá atá inniu ann.

Proclamation for a New Generation

Proclamation for a New Generation

Using the 1916 Proclamation as a foundation, schools are invited to write a new proclamation for 2016. The new proclamation should reflect the values, ideals and aspirations of the generation of 2016. Schools may choose to write one proclamation representing the entire school or to have each class create individual proclamations.

A template is available to download from Scoilnet here.

Each primary school is then invited to upload one 2016 Proclamation to a specially created area of Scoilnet (see here).

Uploading is currently being facilitated.

For further details about how to upload your school’s proclamation(s), and for Scoilnet resources available to support lesson planning and delivery, see ‘Your School’s Proclamation Day, March 15th’ here or visit DES here

Féadfaidh scoileanna rogha a dhéanamh forógra amháin a scríobh ag déanamh ionadaíochta ar an scoil ar fad nó iarrfar ar gach rang forógraí aonair a chumadh.

Tá teimpléad ar fáil le híoslódáil ó Scoilnet anseo.

Tabharfar cuireadh ansin do gach bunscoil Forógra 2016 amháin a uaslódáil chuig réimse de Scoilnet a bheidh cruthaithe go speisialta (féach anseo).

Tá uaslódáil á éascú faoi láthair.

Chun tuilleadh sonraí a fháil faoi conas forógra(í) do scoile a uaslódáil, agus acmhainní Scoilnet atá ar fáil chun tacú le pleanáil agus seachadadh ceachta, féach ar ‘Lá Forógra do Scoile, 15 Márta’ anseo nó tabhair cuairt ar an Roinn Oideachais anseo

RTÉ Young People’s Programmes

RTÉ Young People’s Programmes

Thirty short films made specifically for RTÉjr and 7-11-years-olds will look at life in the early 1900s from a child’s perspective. The films will be historically accurate, visually engaging and filmed in locations that evoke the period, such as No 14 Henrietta Street, Dublin City, and the Pearse Museum in St. Enda’s Park, Rathfarnham.

A reality documentary featuring a group of modern children who forego millennial conveniences is scheduled for air in 2016. The children will learn what life was like 100 years ago for poor families by experiencing 1916 tenement conditions firsthand. The documentary will broadcast around Children’s Day, April 2, 2016. All of the above programmes will be available across RTÉ’s range of apps and websites for young people.

Féachfar i dtríocha gearrscannán a rinneadh go sonrach le haghaidh RTÉjr agus leanaí idir 7-11 bhliain d’aois ar an saol go luath sna 1900idí ó pheirspictíocht linbh. Beidh na scannáin cruinn ó thaobh na staire, beidh siad maisithe go breá agus an scannánaíocht déanta in áiteanna a chuireann an tréimhse i gcuimhne, cosúil le hUimhir 14 Sráid Henrietta, Cathair Bhaile Átha Cliath, agus Músaem an Phiarsaigh i bPáirc Naomh Éanna, Ráth Fearnáin.

Tá sé i gceist clár faisnéise fírinneach a chraoladh in 2016, ina rachaidh grúpa leanaí an lae inniu d’uireasa áiseanna an tsaoil seo. Gheobhaidh na leanaí amach cén sórt saoil a bhí ag teaghlaigh bhochta 100 bliain ó shin agus gheobhaidh siad an t-eolas sin trí fhéachaint go pearsanta ar dhálaí na dtionóntán in 1916. Craolfar an clár faisnéise timpeall ar Lá na Leanaí, an 2 Aibreán 2016. Beidh gach ceann de na cláir thuas ar fáil thar raon aipeanna agus suíomhanna gréasáin RTÉ do dhaoine óga.
