A day-long programme of talks and presentations on 1916 and its legacy, fronted by RTÉ presenter and historian Myles Dungan, will take place at The County Library, Ballinamore, on Saturday 1st October, and will include contributions from a team of broadcasters, authors and key academics.

Beidh clár lae de chainteanna agus léiriúcháin ar 1916 agus ar a oidhreacht, arna chur i láthair ag an láithreoir RTÉ agus an staraí Myles Dungan, ar siúl sa Leabharlann Chontae, Béal an Átha Móir, Dé Sathairn an 1 Deireadh Fómhair, agus áireofar air cainteanna ó fhoireann craoltóirí, údar agus príomhlucht acadúil.

Paths To Freedom will concentrate on the changing nature of Irish politics, work, class and gender roles in the years leading up to independence, and explain that the Rising was part of a wider narrative, not the whole story.

Lecturers invited to present on the day include:

Dr. Myles Dungan

Myles presents The History Show on RTE Radio 1 and is the author of multiple books including Irish Voices From The Great War (1995), Mr. Parnell’s Rottweiler: Censorship and the United Ireland Newspaper (2014) and How The Irish Won The West (2006).)

This event takes place at 10am.

Díreofar in Paths to Freedom ar chineál pholaitíocht na hÉireann atá ag athrú, ar obair, aicme ar róil inscne a bhí ann díreach roimh an neamhspleáchas, agus míneofar ann go raibh an tÉirí Amach ina chuid de scéal níos leithne, agus ní an scéal ar fad.
