Opening on St. Patrick’s Day, State Library Victoria will host a new exhibition about the tumultuous days of the 1916 Easter Rising in Dublin, a pivotal moment in the Irish struggle for independence from Great Britain.

Ar Lá Fhéile Pádraig seolfar taispeántas nua sa Leabharlann Stáit, Victoria, faoi laethanta suaite Éirí Amach 1916 i mBaile Átha Cliath, tráth cinniúnach i streachailt na hÉireann chun neamhspleáchas ón mBreatain Mhór a bhaint amach.

Presented in partnership with the University of Melbourne, the display includes:

• A rare copy of the Irish War News, the newspaper containing Pádraig Pearse's first communiqué from the GPO.
• A 1917 reprint of the proclamation of Irish independence, the only known one in Australia.
• A first edition of WB Yeats influential poem 'Easter 1916'.
• Footage of the 1920 St. Patrick's Day Parade where 100,000 Australians demonstrated their support for Irish independence.
• A portrait of Archbishop Daniel Mannix, the leader of the Catholic community in Melbourne who played a significant role in the defeat of Australia's 1916 and 1917 conscription plebiscites

Beidh an taispeántas á chur i láthair i gcomhpháirtíocht le hOllscoil Melbourne, agus áireofar leis:

• Cóip den Irish War News (eagrán nach furasta teacht air in aon chor), an nuachtán ina bhfuil an chéad scéala ó Phádraig Mac Piarais agus é in Ard-Oifig an Phoist.
• Athchló ón mbliain 1917 ar fhorógra neamhspleáchais na hÉireann, an t-aon chóip de atá san Astráil go bhfios dúinn.
• Cóip den chéad eagrán de dhán le WB Yeats, 'Easter 1916', a chuaigh i bhfeidhm go mór ar dhaoine.
• Píosa scannáin ó Pharáid Lá Fhéile Pádraig na bliana 1920 inar léirigh 100,000 duine de mhuintir na hAstráile go raibh siad ar son Éire neamhspleách.
• Portráid den Ardeaspag Daniel Mannix, ceannaire an phobail Chaitlicigh in Melbourne a raibh ról nach beag aige sa toradh diúltach a bhí ar na pobalbhreitheanna faoin gcoinscríobh a cuireadh ar bun san Astráil in 1916 agus 1917
